About Us
Friends of Long Beach Firefighters, commonly referred to in short as “Friends” is an organization that was established in 2009. Established as a non-profit and non-partisan volunteer group, Friends of Long Beach Firefighters was created to support the on-going training and service programs of the Long Beach Fire Department. As a community services organization that operates under the direction of the Long Beach Fire Department, the Board of Directors is comprised of current and retired Fire Department personnel that meet regularly to maintain oversight of the organization in support its mission.
Focused on community service, education and engagement, Friends oversees several different programs to include; the Fire Ambassadors, Long Beach CERT, LBFD Kids, Junior Lifeguards and Spark of Love, and other programs as determined by the Board of Directors.
Mission and History
Friends of Long Beach Firefighters was founded to strengthen the bond between our firefighters and the community they serve. We’re a nonprofit dedicated to helping the Long Beach Fire Department expand its training, outreach, and public education efforts—while also giving back to local organizations that share our commitment to safety and service.
Through the years, we’ve proudly supported community events, safety fairs, and charitable programs that make Long Beach a safer, more connected city. Because when we support those who serve—and the organizations that serve alongside them—our whole community grows stronger.
